The NBSAP Forum contains an extensive library of best practices related to developing and implementing NBSAPs. Our purpose is to enable countries to share and learn about effective, field-tested techniques and solutions. We work closely with our members to document the problem addressed, for whom, the primary actions, how they achieved results, and the solution they achieved.     Mainstreaming Gender into Jamaica’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2021

    Women contribute to biodiversity conservation and management in fundamentally important ways. Their role has been underscored in several decisions of the Conference of Parties (CoP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the CBD’s 2015-2020 Gender Plan of Action. Previously, gender was absent from Jamaica’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) of 2003. However, Jamaica’s latest NBSAP 2016-2021 includes gender considerations into biodiversity conservation actions and cross-sectoral strategies.

    How to overcome the language barrier for non-English speaking 6NR team

    In Kyrgyzstan 6NR team consists of 8 hired experts and members of the working group from state institutions, NGOs and academia, almost all of them do not speak English, that is a common challenge for expert society in Kyrgyzstan. UNDP Kyrgyzstan decided to deliver all  6NR learning products and webinars to the 6NR team providing simultaneous translation to Russian. Listening and discussing  7 webinars on 6NR from NBSAP forum took 2 days.

    In the Colombian Amazon, indigenous groups, women's organizations, the Sinchi Amazon Institute of Scientific Research, and the Ministry of Environment, implement Chagra’s Fairs (local name given to Agrobiodiversity Fairs) to empower initiatives based on principles of solidarity economy and traditional knowledge as an alternative to extractive economies that have historically operated in the region.

    A la suite aux efforts conjugués de la Mauritanie et du Sénégal, le delta du fleuve Sénégal a été érigé par l’UNESCO le 27 juin 2005 en réserve de biosphère transfrontière (RBT), faisant suite à un long processus de collaboration entre les deux pays et un premier jumelage entre le Parc National des oiseaux du Djoudj au Sénégal et le Parc National du Diawling en Mauritanie (en mai 2000).     Integrating Conservation Objectives Into Hunting Regulations In Syria And Lebanon

    Many migratory soaring birds journey between Europe, Western and Central Asia and Africa. They face unsustainable levels of hunting in many countries along their route, including Syria and Lebanon. Tackling hunting is one element of the Migratory Soaring Birds (MSB) Project, which addresses a range of threats to these birds from economic sectors along the Red Sea/Rift Valley Flyway. The aim is to promote the principles of responsible hunting, including within legislation, in order to minimize impacts on populations of migratory soaring birds.

    TRY Oyster Women’s Association empowers a highly marginalized and economically vulnerable segment of Gambian society. The Association is an established group of 500 female oyster harvesters, with organized leadership, from 15 villages in the Greater Banjul area of The Gambia. It is creating positive change and economic transformation in local villages. Rather than struggling individually, as they once did, women harvesters are now part of a flourishing and widely recognized local enterprise.
