During the webinar, Dr. Sarah Cornell of the Stockholm Resilience Centre describes why and how scientists view our Earth as a system.
She also discusses what that means for our understanding of global change processes and our capacity to intervene in them. Dr. Cornell then explains the distinction between hitting limits and respecting boundaries, reflecting on biophysical processes, societal activities, and the role of knowledge and engagement in navigating sustainable pathways. She also identifies and responds to some of the pressing questions that we are facing: How do we deal with urgent environmental issues? How do we deal with social differences? How do we deal with different value systems?
