Abisha has more than nine years of professional experience with reputable international organisations in synthesising, analysing, communicating and applying information/data, and informing policy, particularly in the fields of international biodiversity conservation and natural resources management, mainstreaming biodiversity and development, poverty reduction/human well being/livelihoods and sustainable development. His work at UNEP-WCMC focuses on mainstreaming biodiversity and development in national plans (e.g. National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and National Development Plans (NDPs)); assessing the effectiveness of MEAs; exploring the links between biodiversity conservation and poor people’s livelihoods; strengthening the evidence base for poverty - biodiversity linkages, agriculture – biodiversity/ecosystem services – commodities linkages; and informing policy in these fields.
